Introduction:

In today’s digital age, government websites play a crucial role in providing citizens with access to essential services and information. However, it’s not uncommon for these websites to face various issues, and navigating them can sometimes feel like a daunting task. Recently, I encountered a particularly frustrating problem while attempting to register for the Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) E-service on their website, www.nlk.org.np. In this article, I will share my experience and provide a solution to the issue, in the hopes of helping others who may face a similar challenge.

The Problem

When attempting to register for the CIT E-service, I encountered a vexing problem — receiving one or more validation errors without any clear validation message from the page. This left me puzzled and stuck in the registration process, unable to proceed further.

The Cause

The root cause of this issue remained elusive. It was unclear why these validation errors were occurring during the registration process. I scoured the website for clues, but the cause remained unknown.

The Discovery

After some persistent investigation, I stumbled upon a crucial detail. The error seemed to be tied to the language in which the registration form was displayed. Specifically, the issue occurred when the form was presented in Nepali, but it was entirely absent when the same page was displayed in English. This inconsistency added to the frustration.

The page in Nepali language will have the error

Furthermore, I noticed that the problem was browser-dependent. The error occurred in the Chrome browser (Version 114.0.5735.198) but not in Firefox, which further complicated matters for users relying on different web browsers.

The Solution:

Thankfully, after much trial and error, I managed to find a workaround to this issue, allowing me to successfully register for the CIT E-service. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Visit the CIT registration page using the following URL: http://eservice.nlk.org.np/Portal/PortalUserRegistration/Create.
  2. Make sure the registration page opens with the English language label. You can do this by checking the language settings on the website. If it’s not in English by default, look for an option to change the language to English.
  3. Fill in all the required fields on the registration form accurately.
  4. Additionally, ensure that you have obtained a CIT card from the CIT office. You will likely need to upload both sides of the CIT form during the registration process.
  5. After filling in the necessary information and uploading the required documents, click the “Save” button.

By following these steps with the English language label, you should be able to complete the registration process successfully without encountering frustrating validation errors.
